about us
Woodland Trails is a Wellington based dog walking and dog care business with a catchment area between Petone and Upper Hutt. Walks and playdates are available Monday - Friday. Pick up and drop off is included in the price.
My doggy co-workers and I (Kate) are huge dog enthusiasts and want to make every doggos day a little bit brighter. If that gives their humans some happiness or relieves some guilt, then so much the better!
Woodland Trails is all about making both you and your beloved dog happy. We understand that it's not always possible for you to walk your dog due to a busy work schedule or perhaps because of injury or illness. That's where we come in and give your beautiful doggo the exercise and mental stimulation it needs. Not only that, but we can also help with socialisation and training, from being able to stick with the pack off lead or walking easier on lead. By offering a free initial meet and greet, we will be able to determine what's going to be the best walk for your doggo.
About Kate:
Coming from a background of working in shelters and boarding facilities, I know that being out and about walking around in the fresh air is the most amazing thing for a dog ~ getting to smell something different or marking their scent on every second shrub is what dreams are made of. That feeling of freedom when hitting the trail is what I want to give your dog.
My experience working with and taking care of dogs, has really made me appreciate the different needs of each individual dog. Socially awkward, disabled, elderly, puppy, shy or simply full of zoomies, all dogs are welcome to join in on the fun and will be taken care of properly. No special recuirement is overlooked or limitations over stepped. I have a huge amount of patience for our four legged friends and will make sure they are always having fun on the trail.
So let's get a walkin’!

Services & rates
Pack WALKS
Pack walks are a great opportunity for your dog to make heaps of new furry friends and become an even bigger social butterfly. These walks usually involve travelling to the riverbank for a run and a swim or a hike up a bush walk. Choosing a pack walk, gives your doggo the chance to run and explore large, dog friendly spaces with a group of mates.
Pack walks are recommended for active, playful dogs who are well behaved around other dogs and aren't shy.
Furthermore, I also try and keep the doggos in the packs roughly around the same weight and temperament. For example, I will not walk a cute miniature poodle with a beautiful 60kg Leonberger.
Prices:
40 minute walk $20
90 minute walk $35
*All walks have the option of on lead or off lead.
*$5 discount for multiple dogs from the same household.
SOLO WALKS
Solo walks allow for one-on-one time and are a great opportunity for your doggo to get that much loved attention from their two legged pals. They are also good for a spot of training, where your dog can practice some simple walking etiquette. Such as sitting at road crossings and not pulling while on lead.
Furthermore, you can choose a “not so solo walk” where I bring along one of my beautiful co-workers (see below). If your doggo needs a little bit of help with socialisation then you can choose an appropriate co-worker to join the walk.
Solo walks are recommended for the dogs out there who prefer a calmer walk or who are perhaps a little awkward with other dogs. Your doggo might have a nervous nature, are rough players or are even just older in years and have lost a little patience for young, bouncy pups.
Prices:
40 minute solo walk $25
90 minute solo walk $40
*All walks have the option of on lead or off lead.
*$5 discount for multiple dogs from the same household.
keep in mind that each walk time is a minimum estimate and more often than not, your dog will be out and about a lot longer than you are paying for.
Playdates
At home playdates are available as well. These are perfect for older dogs who enjoy company from the comfort of their own home or puppies who aren't quite ready for the big wide world. A playdate is a perfect opportunity to give your pooch some attention while also checking in on them and letting them out for a toilet break.
Price:
$25 for 40 minutes
*No additional charge for multiple animals
DOG SITTING / house sitting
In house dog sitting is available, however, spaces are limited. Your dog will be looked after in the comfort of their own home while also being able to tag along for pack walks. Your house will be taken care of, pets fed and plants watered.
Price:
$45 per night
*Only an extra $15 additional charge for multiple animals
For every individual walk you book, $1 will be donated to a local animal shelter. so you will not only be making your doggo happy but, you’ll be making many others happy as well.
FREE MEET AND GREET
If your struggling to decide which walk is the best for your dog, or you would like to meet me, then feel free to book a free meet and greet.
Furthermore, if you are unsure of your doggos willingness to leave your property with a dog walker (however friendly they might be) then doing a practice run at a meet and greet may be worth while.
NAIL TRIM
In addition to a walk, playdate or pet sitting booking, you can purchase nail clipping. I will trim your dogs nails from the comfort of their own home and save you and your doggo, the stress of going to the vet.
Price:
$15 per dog
CO-WORKERS
These trusted furry co-workers are your doggos new best friends. Not only do they join in on pack walks but they also - on your request - are perfect companions on solo walks and playdates.
milly
Princess Milly is the perfect companion and friend to pretty much any pooch. She is extremely well behaved and is a great coworker to bring along on solo walks. If your doggo is a little nervous or just needs some safe socialisation, Milly has the right temperament to ease them into the walk and make them feel comfy. She has a playful side like all Golden Retriever / Border Collies and LOVES a good swim, but it is her calm and obedient nature that everyone appreciates.
odin
Odi is a great friend to any doggo that loves to play and is very active. He’s a sturdy boy who can take on rough play but also has a gentle side which can coax a shy doggo into letting loose. He is a great role model for pups and has the patience needed when they decide to make a puppy pile on him.
adele
Adele the fluffy Corgi has a bit of sass to her which means she is a good friend to doggos of all sizes as she can easily hold her own. She is the perfect playmate for younger, playful pups. Adele will wrestle and chase your pup until she's tired and then be sensible to know when enough is enough and it's time to hit the trail. She is also a great example to dogs who struggle off lead because she is always keen to stay with the crew and not wander off the trail.
heidi
Heidi the matriarch is a gentle old gal who still knows how to have a good time. She is very well socialised from years of doggy daycare and is the perfect walking companion for the older generation. Her gentle and independent nature makes her a great leader as well, who will guide your pooch on the trail and will help sniff out all the good smells.

Satisfied Customers
Kate is by far our first choice when it comes to walking our dog. Like all dog owners, we love our dog to bits and want to make sure she is always safe and happy. Whenever she is with Kate we never have to worry as we know that she is always being looked after and kept entertained as Kate always takes her on different walks that she just loves! Working full time in the city we often have to stay late for meetings so it is so handy having Kate available to walk our dog when we can’t. I couldn’t recommend Kate more and if your lucky enough to be offered a spot for your dog to join one of Kate’s walks, I would say jump at it because you will not be disappointed.
Kate has such a great rapport with dogs. Heidi is always really excited to see her and I know she’ll always be well looked after.
Kate is wonderful. Went above and beyond to help our doggo overcome her fear of traveling in vans. The highlight of my Tuesday is checking Instagram to see photos and video of my baby out and about. Highly recommend her services.
My dogs love Kate so much and so do I. Kate is flexible and accommodating and really eased my nerves. The dogs love their weekly walk. Thank you, Kate.
Kate is the absolute best out. She goes above and beyond her call of duty. She is Punctual, reliable, flexible and shows so much care and love towards my dog. Couldn’t ask for a better dog walker.
